There, I silently sit next to you,
with a strange tension in the air.
My mouth had almost dropped open,
and I could've sworn I saw you stare.

You infer that I'm much different,
for sure not the girl I used to be.
But in many ways I'm still like her,
not the pretty girl I want everyone to see.

You've changed a lot too,
as far as my eyes can tell.
But yet you're still the same,
and once again, for you, I fell.

I was never pretty enough for you,
and that's one thing that hasn't changed.
You're the guy that everyone wants,
and I'm the girl that they call strange.

It's awkward and I pretend often,
that I don't notice or don't even care.
But every one pretty much knows the truth,
and they say that we'd make a cute pair.

Reality is what actually hurts,
and I know that we'd never be.
Because a guy of your standards,
would never even consider a girl like me.
