The seconds seem to spin away faster
As the clock hands refuse to freeze
And with speeding comes disaster
Upon the air of a cool morning breeze
A scent of indulgence hung on his words
His feet pushing down through the floor
A V in the sky flown by black birds
Foretold the closing of life's door
Innocence strangled in the mangled steel
Guilty eyes stare down the street
A drunk driver behind the wheel
Forced a life to end incomplete
Now left to suffer in sorrow of our loss
Of a poet, so youthful; a friend
But the fact that his heart stopped beating
Does not prove this as the end
In heaven, we know, you wait today
In spirit you watch over your girl
So many words you never got to say
But forever she will be your world
