Descending the stairs cautiously- train dragging behind
a princess in veil, pure white dress so divine
along the railings stood jesters, kings, queens, in line
long tables for feasting and goblets of wine
flowers contrived with stems intertwined
in the crowd of two hundred, just two hearts lay blind
a prince in tuxedo, polished crown upon his head
with his young princess, royalty soon to be wed
majestic chandeliers adorned in crimson red
tinsel and ribbon and balloons tied with thread
the congregation awaits vows still unread
as she walked the aisle, the clamoring fell dead
upon the altar, two hearts beating symphonies
he promises to love her unconditionally
in her mind, behind her mask of beauty
playing in repetition was a guilty melody
with a single word, no; the bride to be
ended the marriage with a lost love threnody
