Before love came along
I bathed in the warmth
of the summer sun:
Childish
innocent
forever young

When love arrived
I sang to the night
caught by the gravity of the moon:
An adult
tarnished
and pretty soon

Love departed
and then there was no sun
and then there was no moon
just pieces
broken
too much
too soon.
