It was New Years Eve
I knew it was the truth
The second midnight struck
I leaned in and said, I love you.

The celebrations around us
Were completely unheard
As you looked at me shocked
Unable to say a word.

A few minutes later,
When we were all alone
I looked at you and started to speak
But you hurt me with your tone

I said, I was serious, I love you-
But you laughed it all off
You're to young to love, you said
With a hurtful scoff.

He knew I was serious but was acting like I wasnt
Hurt and confused I let the thoughts settle.
As you left to go home tears stung my eyes
I watched you walk away
Savoring every part of you and so i cried.

I havent seen you in 7 months
And sometimes I wonder
Do you think of me? Do you hear me?
Do you feel my heart calling out for you?

I dont understand
What was it about me that made you laugh?
You used to love me, you used to hug me
Now suddenly you're acting like it was nothing.

Then I realized what was really going on
That other girl, she had stolen your heart
Well when she gives it back
I'll be here

Still whispering those words you didn't want to hear.
